Our History
Alpine Plywood was incorporated in January 1975 by A.J. Groskopf, Joseph LaBarber, and Eric Tamm, with roots tracing back to Lakeside Plywood, founded in 1961. Initially, we offered a minimal product line, mainly supplying plywood to lumber yards. From the start, our strategy to succeed in a competitive market was simple: deliver service the marketplace had never seen before.
In 1975, Alpine became the exclusive distributor of Wilsonart® high-pressure laminate in Wisconsin, fueling our growth and opening doors to new markets. Over the years, we expanded our panel product line to meet the evolving needs of our industrial customer base.
1991 – Introduced Wilsonart Solid Surface, entering the solid surfacing market.
1998 – Added Blum® Hardware, complementing our hardwood plywood and panel offerings. Facility expansions supported growing demand.
2001 – Launched panel lamination services, which continue to thrive today.
2005 – Premier supplier of Wilsonart High Definition (HD) Laminate in Wisconsin, bringing 8 innovative designs to market.
2014 – Introduced Wilsonart Quartz, entering the quartz market.
2025 –Celebrated 50 years of service, marking a half-century of excellence, relationships, and innovation.
Today, Alpine Plywood remains family-owned and operated by John LaBarber, President, and Laura LaBarber, Executive Vice President. As a family company, we value relationships, respect, and integrity, principles that have guided our success for over five decades and continue to drive our growth into the future.
