What is AEON?

The innovative AEON Enhanced Performance process is not just a new coating or finish. It is a new way of making high-pressure laminate that results in a surface that is measurably clearer and stronger, which will look superior when new and continue looking new longer.

The AEON technology revolutionized the way that aluminum oxide is applied to the laminate surface. This process allows for finer and more accurate placement of particles for maximum performance and a thinner overlay that enhances the optical clarity of the design. By this process, the smaller particles are closer to the surface of the overlay sheet and the larger particles reside within the overlay sheet – for superior durability, scratch/scuff/mar resistance, print fidelity and color saturation.

Laminate with AEON technology outperforms traditional laminate on wear resistance, as well as scratch/scuff/mar resistance. In fact, Wilsonart had to invent a new testing methodology to illustrate the improvement. In this controlled abrasion test, laminated samples were subjected to 200 passes with a weighted, industrial strength Scotch-Brite® pad. Depending on the finish type and pattern of the laminate, AEON Enhanced Performance outperformed traditional laminate by a factor of 3x to 5x!
